yaaaaaaay i got my first callback. :D
gamestop called me back today while i was in school. i had to call THREE TIMES just to get the guy that called D| but i've got an interview set for tomorrow. so we'll see how that goes.
but that usually means that i have a job because they called me back in the first place. XD
this job isn't high on my list, mostly because i don't feel totally qualified for the job. compared to a lot of other nerds i know, i know very very very little about video games. XD but i feel that working here will allow me to learn and let my addiction progress. :D
since i just got a real console a few months back (ps2), i've actually found good games. outside of that, i have all my old-school consoles and some gameboys, a gamecube (which has like...zelda, and that's it), and a crappy-ass computer that refuses to run word documents sometimes, let alone complex video games (or photoshop, for that matter D:).
so it's up there... i suppose it depends on the hours i can get and the monies i can earn. if it offers me a lot compared to my other top choices, blick art supplies and the two craft stores, then i would probably take up this one. but i have to wait for a call from the blick stores and michael's, and call jo-ann's later this week.
i also have to call shinder's later this week and probably sit on hold forever at their corporate office before i can find out if i can get that job, too. |D
i think my list of desires is like this: 1) qualifications 2) payment 3) hours. if a low-1 job has high 2 and 3, then that could easily convince me to do a job i don't have much experience in verses one i do have a lot of experience with, only with lower hours and less pay. i neeeeeed a good-paying job this summer, and i wanna work full-time, or it just won't be worth it because these places are far away. working at the bakery part-time last year wasn't much of an issue because it was close.
but damn... i demand more of a paycheck this time. 6.50 an hour SUCKS. D: i also need the monies to pay for CONvergence this year, plus a trip to new york and chicago. plus i'll be dropping tons of money on art supplies to keep building my portfolio... fabric and sewing supplies to hopefully start a wee internet business this summer... plus the occasional video game. |D i'm debating whether or not to pick up an xbox 360 now.
hopefully i can actually invest some money in college funds. even if it's just a bit, it'll help. there was no way in HELL i could've afforded to do that last year with the shitty pay i got, so pay is definitely high on my list of concerns this time.
i can afford to be a little more picky this year, too. i applied for seven different jobs and i'm older, whereas last year i only had applied for that one and i was hardly of legal working age. XD
...so yeah!
life's good.
now to get back to work on my hat stuffs. i just finished packing everything up... into two really huge boxes, a large plastic bag, plus my sewing machine.
i'll have to drag all that to the sale on saturday. at least it's not far. D:
i also have to make a price book, figure out commissions, and business cards... plus maybe some care tip sheets so people don't get stupid and try to machine wash their hats. D|
