so!
friday at work sucked beans. it was hot, tiring, and EVERYONE was pissed off at everything.
but the weekend was le GREAT!
i won't bother with details, because there's just too many. but to sum it up in a word, this weekend was penis-rific.
xD
and i come back to check my messages on deviantART and find that the gates to hell have been thrown open.
oh well. i'm technically not involved with the community anymore, so i don't really give much of a shit, as long as all my favorite artists don't start leaving.
meh. i'm sleeeeepy. i was nodding off in the car after reading two hellboy comics (which were delicious) and i still haven't woken up quite yet.
so i'm going to go entertain my brain for a while. should finish that half of the art trade i'm supposed to do. x3;

feeling: lazy
aah! i haven't updated all week. i've just been too busy hanging with friends at the mall on monday, and working at the bakery and on commissions the rest of the week.
lame, i know.
but. oh well. monday was sweet; it made me quite happy.
and this weekend, i'm going away to my cabin with four friends to have EXPLODING good fun!
and, my god! i am in le love!
i recieved a marvelous e-mail last night from the artist i'm doing an art trade with--she finished my cal!
look, look!!
i need to print out a copy of this before i leave so i can cuddle with it all weekend. <3
annnd.. i'm off to work for seven long, hot hours today. blah.
oh well. i'm safe from working tomorrow--because of river city days downtown, tomorrow will be a living hell...for those sorry suckers who are working, haha!
i kid. (mostly. ;P)

feeling: spiffy!
oh, what a day!
i realize that i'll probably get called in next week on friday to work a full eight hours because it's river city days downtown (big festival thing).
but oh well! i'm feeling great, just because of what's happened in the past half hour!
as i was driving home, i listened to many tracks off of the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind soundtrack. if the theme and the polyphonic spree's light & day doesn't make you happy, then i don't know what does.
then i realized i needed gas! so i drove to the gas station in which i have this "speedy rewards" thing with them.
GAS WAS 2.07/GALLON.
'HOSHIT.
and with my speedy rewards, i speedily got two cents off of every gallon! =D
and i get five cents off ten gallons next time, because i bought some soda for two/five bucks!
whoa, the math!
but it all adds up to SAVINGS! which means i get to spend more when i go to the mall of america next monday. =DD
-rolls around-
money is so influencial.. it can make me totally depressed when something's messed up (-coughdickblickcough-) or i'm out of it, but it makes me feel like rejoicing every time i get or save some.
damned human inventions!
oh well!

AP SCORES!
oh man, i was so reluctant to even open that letter at first. on the testing day, i felt miserable afterward, because i soon realized that i had answered a whole essay all wrong, among other things.
so i told myself as i opened the letter, "let's see the damage..."
FOUR.
a bnig FAT freakin' FOUR!
no way! :D
hell.. alexa told me that she got a three. and she did so much more work for that class than i did. i was thinking at that point that i had no hopes of passing.
BUT I DID! with freakin' flying colors! :DD
ohh.. what a happy day.
besides the fact that i'm still out fifty bucks from dick blick, today has been good.
i gave the lady at the store an earful for not having fixed my account yet. but apparently, i'm not the only one--there's been about 30 to 40 double-charges in the past month.
so they said that'll be fixed by the end of the week and i'll be getting a nice gift card in the mail. yay, i can go buy more linoleum blocks!
and i got paid today. if that doesn't make anyone happy, then i don't know what would. :P
cheese, lets go to the mall of america on sunday or something!
annnd.. that trade with the wonderful artist is coming up very soon. she goes home next week and she'll be able to start work then, she says.
plus! i'm going to be apart of a big old group collaboration, thanks to ilostmyname (she did a really awesome vector of cal a while ago as giftart; this is a good way to pay her back for that <3).
so!
in conclusion, life is good. :D

feeling: saddened..
okay, so i follow harry potter fandom for a night every time a new book comes out.
i managed to get my paws on the book that my sister was hoarding against my mother's wishes, so i finally got to start reading at about three today.
it's one-thirty in the morning now, and i took only an hour break to eat and poke at some stuff on the internet (i couldn't go far--fuckheads were posting up spoilers all over the forums), plus listen to a 'phone call from emily.
and.. oh god..
the ending of this book makes me wonder if j.k. rowling actually plans to make a seventh book.
it won't follow the template that all the others have if she does.. but we all need to know how the saga ends. it'll be so weird reading something that starts out completely different than all the others have.
well, i won't say anything more because i may just end up spoiling it for a couple of people, but i shall leave you with my favorite quote in the whole book. gives me the greatest mental image ever.
a description of ron's kissing: "there was a noise like a plunger being withdrawn from a blocked sink..."
just this sentence alone has prompted me into reconsidering doing the dreaded "harry potter fanart," but just for the sake of satire.
haha.
and apparently, dan hasn't ever picked up the harry potter books before, and i'm doing my best to convince him to not see the movies first. >>;
but now i know what i'm getting him for his birthday, hah.

sooo tired.
not even kidding. i'm attempting to stay up for paranoia agent, but i'm failing so far. so i'm trying to find things that'll keep me preoccupied and awake for a little while longer...
but i may just give into my sleep demon and collapse early, then catch the re-run on thursday. arrg. ._.
i wouldn't be so damn tired if my mother could actually do her motherly duties and if work didn't suck so bad. but, no, today was the third morning in a row that i was up before ten. eight, eight, and seven.
so fucking tired.
at least i'm not in pain, like last week. i discovered the wonders of the floor fan and balancing my chores around the bakery. so i didn't pull every muscle in the ass zone because the floors were drying quickly with the fan, and i'm not quite so hurty and exhausted because i didn't spend five hours in a row scrubbing linoleum--i spread that out.
and i got to take an hour break to go to subway and get lunch for everyone. teehee!
AND MY CDS CAME IN. <33
the paranoia agent soundtrack is weird. i don't know if it's really my cup of tea.
but i do loooove the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind soundtrack. whee, polyphonic spree!
however, my sister is being a book hog and won't let me read harry potter. if she doesn't let me have it while she's at some softball tournament all day tomorrow, i'm going to beat her. mom said to share. >(
anyway..
i need to spend my two days off reading and then catching up on commission work. i have two pictures to do--one massive cging piece, and a somewhat quick piece for an exchange.
but, sadly enough, i've already booked myself through august now, and perhaps a little into september (god, school is creeping up so fast D:). i have two group auctions i'm participating in--one i randomly signed up for, and the other is with a bunch of friends and i'm organizing it.
and i have that really cool trade coming up once my art buddy frees up her work list... ehehe.
speaking of art...
DICK BLICK IS A SHIT.
they still haven't freed up my fifty fucking dollars. it's been almost two fucking weeks!
if it's not cleared by monday, i'm filing a fucking report with my bank after i bitch at the manager again.

yeah. tiredness is getting to my head. not quite sure what i'm typing aynmore. :d

the joys of working in a bakery.
well, i was gonna write up a huuuuge rant about how much i hate drama queens, people disappearing from work, and unfair ones, but i decided not to.
i think it was the cramps that killed the mood, but..eh.
that's just been my day in a nutshell.
had to deal with some moron whining about being banned from a website, my employer completely gone while people are getting pissed in the background, and then a lady trying to get us artists to cooperate but won't cooperate herself.

from courtney's kitchen...
Classical @ 11:14 pm CST
now, you too, can have your very own courtney!
just follow this simple recipe:
1. in a large mixing bowl, mix a cup creativity and a cup of logic until well-blended.
2. add a pound of anxiety.
3. in a seperate bowl, whip half a cup of loveability into a cup of melted and cooled hyperactivity. using warm hyperness causes explosions, so use great caution.
4. the aforementioned mixture should be carefully reboiled over a low stove. once bubbling, pour that mixture into the bowl with the left-right brain mix and stir.
5. when the mixture has settled and cooled a bit, add in three-quarters cup of procrastination and distraction, and then stir in two tablespoons of forgetfullness.
6. use dashes of OCD quirks, obsessions over Norwegians, and random musical choices (alternative and indie rock work best) to taste.
7. bake at 400 degrees for ten minutes until pale.
8. serve immediately. goes great with raspberries. because i like raspberries. :D

i'm just not having good luck with this card of mine.
okay, so a few days back, gaia fucked up my monthly money donation i make there.
so that's gotta get fixed. but i have to wait until i get an e-mail from the admins before i can do anything about it.
and then, i woke up this morning and checked my bank statement on-line, and dick blick double-charged my card from last week. after i thought that had disappeared!
so i had to wait 'til ten to call (i was up at nine and ansty as hell to call >_<) and got to speak to the manager. he was nice; he gave me a number to fax a bunch of information and a copy of my receipt to. (lucky him, i keep all my receipts now.)
after learning how to use the fax machine for the first time, i got it through and they just called me back to say that the accountant did, indeed, double-charge my card. so i get about $50 credited back to my account in a few days.
which is a good thing, because i need that fifty dollars. i sent alexa's mother my payment slice of the hotel room for CONvergence, so she could be cashing that check today.
uff.
i love this little piece of plastic i got with my checking account; it gets me everywhere. i can even buy pocky now (though it's $8 for shipping D:).
but it's causing me so many troubles already. arrg.

oh well.
i just plan to sit on my painful ass all night and do nothing unusual. i've been wanting to draw stuff all week (i actually have a backlog of ideas, for once), so i'm going to do that before i pass out from exhaustion at..nine, perhaps.

this story that i've been following... about the mute pianist who suddenly appeared in england... i got caught up with the news and a few days back, they have apparently found a new lead.
and it actually makes sense this time.
the poor man has been noted as having pointing to the swedish flag and the city of oslo, norway in an atlas.
and now they're apparently finding leads that link this man to being from norway. i'm surprised this didn't hit the authorities earlier--when i first read that he had pointed to those things back in, like, may, i began to have suspisions that he was from scandinavia.
man, i hope they find out who he is soon.

so, i'm planning to go out tomorrow morning to pick up a few art supplies i need (my sketchbook has six pages left ;__;) and then get some more yarn for another scarf (this time, for myself :D).
i was gonna get a bunch of yarn and make a blanket, but i needed a good 60 oz. of yarn for that project.

i'd need 20.

CONvergence!
Classical @ 01:37 pm CST
music: The Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes
feeling: like smooth sailin'...
OH GOD.
these last twenty-four hours were, like, nerdgasmic.
CONvergence was the ultimate shit.
in a really cool way.
so after a stop at caribou coffee yesterday morning at nine, the six of us--alexa, her mom, emily, kendra, heather, and myself--made our way to the sheraton hotel. i had the complete survival kit all ready to go--$100, six cans of soda, bags of candy, my hand-crafted domo-kun hat, and an adrenaline rush.

domo-kun is so sexy. don't deny it.
(fifteen people confessed their love to my hat.)once we got there, checked in (which was a pain-in-the-ass for me again, because they couldn't find my forms and my mother is too damn lazy to send in my forms on TIME), and found out what was going on, we headed to the dealer's room. because, y'know, you gotta buy stuff before people have picked through it all.
i actually bought stuff this year. i was hoping to pick up a few comics, but the only ones i saw being sold were ones in japanese and pornography (which i could've bought, had i wanted to--they mistook me for an eighteen-year-old at the check-in, so i got the adult badge xDD). but i bought buttons for my new bag, a little balinese wooden hand-painted kitten, and a gift for a friend. ;D
there was a fucking awesome cosplayer dressed as elastic girl from the incredibles walking around. saw a couple of neat final fantasy ones too, but those are the norm, y'know.
we fucked around and eventually went into the art show, which was okay. there wasn't a whole lot that struck me as really amazing (though i did see these really great, minimalistic watercolor paintings that were really cheap and i wanted to get one). there was also a lot of iffy amature art, too. more than last year, so that's what was taking up all the room for the good stuff that i remembered from last year.
so, yeah, i was a bit disappointed but the art show, but that didn't dare tread all over the wonders to follow that.
alexa really wanted to see please twins, so we sat around in the anime room with subway sandwiches and watched that. very, very strange show. how big does the love triangle get? we'll never know. D:
we popped into a panel given by larry dixon and mercedes lackey. they spent the fifteen minutes we stood in back talking about their roleplaying characters on city of heros.
i felt so at home. :d
i stood around and watched the gang take turns on taiko drum master. kendra was flipping out on the drums; i seriously thought she'd break them eventually. xD i was pretty occupied with watching tidus in the other room playing ddr. (he was freakin' hot.)
then it was time to wait in line for the masquerade! hoshit!
for all you CONvirgins, that's the costume show with skits and stuff. there's always some really good ones. this year's most memorable was the star wars parody where they broke out into "he's a lumberjack and it's okay" at the end with paperbag monties...and then the shawn of the dead parody with dancing zombies (we are so do that dance when school starts again) and giant wallace & gromit cosplayers came out and beat the old guy with sticks. there was even a phantom of the opera cosplay (the phantom had approached me earlier that day and asked to take a picture of my hat xD).
and, then, ohgod, the professional skits at the end we insanely funny. even more than last year, because i actually knew what they were talking about this time! they made star wars into a comedian adventure (with the rubber chickens and fart jokes and all!), bitched and moaned about teen titans and how marvel/d.c. comics are selling out into films nowandays, and pulled a sin city.
and after the masquerade ends, you know what comes next... TOAST!
the house of toast opened and we left the masquerade early to get some, then try to hit a movie at ten. the sushi was delicious. it was great, made-on-the-spot stuff. considering the fact that CONvergence was the first place i had ever eaten sushi last year, that was a great way to celebrate the anniversary.
i didn't get too creative with my toast toppings. i played it safe with marshmellow fluff and cinnamon sugar.
em got two--one with banana, peanut butter, and bacon bits; the other with cactus and tang.
alexa had marshmellow fluff and tang. and something else, i think, but i've forgotten.
her mom got spam and cold spagetti-o's.
heather tried tomatoes and tang, plus something else.
and i can't remember kendra's toast combination.
in the middle of eating toast, one of the zombies from the shawn of the dead parody came up and started eating emily's toast crusts, then picked at the half of her brain that alexa didn't own. o_O
things were winding down elsewhere in the convention ('cept for the party rooms, of course). that meant it was movie time.
alexa's mom dragged us into the dead zone to see a classic. it was really weird seeing chistopher watkins so freakin' young. o_o
then she wanted to sit around for the butterfly effect: director's cut, so we ran out of there with our tails between our legs. uff. >_< we had to get to the anime room for the drawing that was at the end of the anime parody. caught the tail-end of that, which involved evangelion and prince's 1999.
o_O?
and then it was time for the marvelous theater nippon drawing!
last year, we tried to send alexa to the room and pick up anything that we might have won, but you yourself actually had to be there...and both emily and i had won something last year.
i ended up winning three dvds of super dimension fortress macross. in japanese, with subtitles. very rare.
and no one else in our group won anything. i got to rub it in their faces. :D
paranoia agent was up next in the anime room, so i forced everyone to watch it. and pretty much hooked everyone on the show and the music (which i finally got to write down! the credits on the television go too damn fast to catch the song titles. ;_;)
finally got to see the first episode. so many things now make more sense. i understand where the grandpa and the bag lady come in, and the little connections the victims have with the others.
mmmm. paranoia. was this show done by the same guys as tokyo godfathers?
we wanted to catch the crow as our last film and activity for the night..er, morning. it was two by that time. but they cancelled the film at the last minute.
guess what they were showing instead?
night watch!!
it's not even coming to america until the fall!
the storyline was disappointing and insanely confusing. it was very fast-paced, too much for the fact that i was falling asleep in the middle of it. but the effects were as awesome as the trailer that emily shown me earlier.
maybe i'll have to see it again when i'm more awake and alert to understand what the fuck was going on.
that's the reward we get for being such loyal CONers, though. we get to see films before they even come out.
we shuffled back to our room at four this morning. (never follow alexa; she has a crappy sense of direction. we ended up on the wrong side of the hotel and couldn't get to our room, so we had to go back down and find a new elevator. and the elevators take forever; there's twenty floors, not counting the missing third and thirteenth floor. :d)
i was so tired, but so content.
i slept more comfortably than last year. instead of curling up on an armchair, i pulled a huge, poofy comforter off of the beds in the room, folded it in half, and made myself a makeshift futon bed. it was really cozy, actually. i could get used to sleeping on one of those.
i got about..oh..three-and-a-half hours of sleep. we got up at eight-thirty to get ready to see cat returns. such a cuuuute movie; i expected nothing less from the miyzaki master. then after rumaging through the food rooms upstairs for breakfast, we packed up and headed home. there was little else interesting happening for the rest of the day--nothing worth staying for, anyway.
now i sit here, reflecting on my grand past twenty-four hours of wonder. reality isn't fun anymore!
but it'll be better when i go out with emily and alexa to get free stuff at the tent fair tonight for the fourth of july. if i can stay up that long. :P
so, after three pictures of my hat, two more CONvirgins deflowered, and one mind-blowing day, i'm feeling quite pleased.
i'll be posting up pictures (when i get them from alexa) and my collage of my CONvergence memories later. but here's a few from my own camera. i didn't take too many. :P
the infamous missing third floor. there really is no third floor! occasionally, it skips the floor on the elevator floor counter.
alexa and emily, then kendra and emily duke it out on taiko drum master. (you can't see it, but alexa's cape says: "this is my ass-kicking cape.")
with 65 toast toppings, how can you refuse the wonder of the toast?!
mmm, toast and sushi. that sushi was soooo good.
oh, and just because it's cool:

on a small side note: i get paid tomorrow. gimmemoney. >_<

feeling: sleepy 'n' tired
what a fucking stupid day!
so i got a call this morning at nine-thirty (yes, it woke me up) and it's the bakery. mandi, the girl who's been working there for seven years, was on the 'phone and she wanted me in at ten. renee, who is somehow married into my employer's family, was freaking out in the background. i'm not even kidding--she was shouting and squealing like the fucking world was collapsing under her feet.
apparently, it was really busy and they needed more help, because mandi was sick-like. (she eventually went home early.)
being me, the unselfish person i am, i went in and stood behind the cash register for an hour while people steadily filed in and out. yeah, it was busy at that point.
but as noon rolled around and i was cleaning the second-to-last room to be done, i realized that i was going to be done with everything too early.
and i was. leah and i were sitting in the back room, trying to nap on the counters, at three. i still had three more hours to work and everything was all done!
we were so. damn. bored. all we had left to do was throwing out the rest of the donuts (there weren't that many leftover) at about five-thirty.
so to amuse us in our boredom, we S.O.S.'ed people, made an animal puppet show out of the utensils we found in the drawers, and went fly-hunting.
and my name is now "cinnamon bread," 'cause that's the label i pulled from the rolls. leah was "french bread." (that would've fit me better, hee.)
and i blew four hours of my day, all of which should've been spent preparing for CONvergence and finishing my damn hat, but noooo! apparently, they needed me in early so i could run the cash register and then they could get some cleaning done.
but i wish they hadn't! i was really looking forward to not being all exhausted this weekend because i'd have only been working for the usual four hours...
oh well.
getting paid to sit around and eat/drink your own profits is the best kind of work.
and i'm gonna get four more hours than i expected on my paycheck next week. i could buy a dvd. :d
